Nobody said it was easy

Yesterday was International Women’s Day. There were so many stories around to highlight how much we can celebrate in 2018. We are though, as part of our society at large, all a work in progress and there is much more we can do, women and men, to help and encourage each other. I was reminded yesterday that nobody said it was going to be easy.  I was meeting up with local entrepreneurs all of whom are setting up business, establishing reputations, finding their feet and digging deep into their personal reserves to keep on keeping on. But as long as you really believe in what you are doing it is possible, with determination, peserverance, the encouragement of friends and help from networks. And probably long hours and quite a lot of juggling, especially if you have those around you, whether they’re a toddler or an octogenarian, who interrupt you and need your attention. I was in awe of how positive everyone was and how much joy they were finding in turning their ideas into action and finding business success. It comes at a cost to our energy which every now and then we need to replenish. Over the years I have found it invaluable to pause regularly with someone who gives me their full attention and listens to me and helps me think things through. This is especially helpful when I need to work ‘on’ my business and take the long view. It’s much easier to work ‘in’ my business where I am very immersed in doing what I do. That’s something I now want to offer others, so if you’d like to stop and pause, take a deep breath, and slow down enough to hear yourself think, and find new energy for the next step, please get in touch. Whether it’s for an hour or a day it’s invaluable.
